Brave Partners with Input | Output to Integrate Cardano Blockchain

Brave, the privacy-focused web browser, has announced a partnership with Input | Output, the engineering firm behind the Cardano blockchain. This collaboration will enable Brave users to seamlessly access the Cardano network through the browser’s integrated wallet, known as the Brave Wallet.

Since its inception, Brave has championed cryptocurrency, rewarding users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing advertisements. The inclusion of a native digital wallet allows users to engage with the rapidly evolving Web3 landscape. With this new partnership, Brave users will gain the ability to perform a range of Cardano-specific activities directly from the wallet interface.

Expanded Functionality with Cardano

The key features of this integration will empower users to engage in various tasks on the Cardano blockchain. This includes participating in governance activities and managing native Cardano assets, all while using the Brave Wallet as a user-friendly front-end interface. In addition, the wallet will support the swapping of Cardano-native tokens, facilitating network transactions conveniently through the browser extension.

Charles Hoskinson, CEO of Input | Output and co-founder of Cardano, expressed the partnership’s importance, stating that it not only broadens the scope for Cardano users but also sets a new benchmark for blockchain networks. He emphasised the essence of privacy in enabling individuals to partake in on-chain governance.

"By bringing Cardano into Brave Wallet, we are not only expanding functionality for Cardano users in the age of on-chain governance, but also advancing a new standard for how blockchain networks should empower individuals—protecting privacy while enabling active, on-chain participation."

Brave’s Commitment to Web3

Brave is committed to enhancing its platform’s functionality and user experience. The developers expressed their enthusiasm for extending the digital asset features of the browser, signifying Brave’s dedication to building a user-centric Web3 ecosystem.

Brendan Eich, CEO and co-founder of Brave, shared insights on the partnership, highlighting its aim to maximise user choice and provide advanced tools for engaging with decentralised systems. He mentioned that integrating Cardano into the Brave Wallet not only broadens access to multiple blockchain networks but also improves security and governance participation for users.

"Our partnership with IO reflects Brave’s commitment to building a Web3 that maximises interoperation for user choice, while giving them better tools to engage with decentralised ecosystems… Integrating Cardano into Brave Wallet not only expands multi-chain access, but also enhances security, governance participation, and the overall user experience."
Brendan Eich, CEO and co-founder of Brave

Brave’s recent press release also hinted at further developments in collaboration with Input | Output, suggesting a forward-looking approach to enhance its user offerings.

Overall, this integration of Cardano into Brave represents a significant step in advancing the interaction of traditional web users with blockchain technologies, potentially leading to broader adoption and innovation in the Web3 space. With a focus on user experience and privacy, Brave continues to position itself as a key player in the evolution of internet browsing.
