Hyperliquid’s Significant Buybacks and Robust Cash Flow Ignite Rising Bullish Momentum

Hyperliquid Token Receives Bullish Endorsement from Citrini Research

Citrini Research has identified Hyperliquid (HYPE) as a “compelling” investment, highlighting its impressive annualised fees of approximately US$1.06 billion (AU$1.51 billion) and a remarkable buyback programme that reinvests over 90% of these earnings. Since January 2025, the buyback fund has acquired more than US$2 billion (AU$2.84 billion) worth of HYPE, positioning it as a leader in crypto token buybacks, according to select metrics.

On June 2, HYPE achieved an all-time high close to US$75 (AU$107) before a scheduled token unlock valued at US$700 million (AU$994 million) caused a pullback to around US$62 (AU$88).

Citrini Research’s endorsement comes with a stark contrast to the majority of cryptocurrency assets, which are often driven by speculative narratives. They note that HYPE stands out as it generates significant cash flow.

The Mechanics of Buybacks

According to Citrini, Hyperliquid’s buyback strategy is notable, accounting for nearly half of the total crypto token buyback activity. The fees accrued from perpetual-futures trading are systematically reinvested into purchasing HYPE, linking its price stability directly to revenue rather than speculation. This cash-generating advantage distinguishes HYPE from other assets whose prices are primarily narrative-driven, allowing for a perspective of HYPE as a functioning business rather than mere speculation.

The revenue generated by Hyperliquid has been escalating rapidly. The cumulative protocol revenue has exceeded approximately US$1.19 billion (AU$1.69 billion), with total trading volume surpassing US$4.15 trillion (AU$5.89 trillion) and open interest reaching nearly US$3.5 billion (AU$4.97 billion). As the platform broadens to include commodities and institutional products, these figures are expected to continue climbing.

In the first three weeks alone, Hyperliquid exchange-traded funds offered by 21Shares and Bitwise have reported close to US$600 million (AU$852 million) in trading volume, along with net inflows exceeding US$136 million (AU$193.1 million).

This robust performance has led Citrini Research to consider HYPE a distinctive investment opportunity in the rapidly evolving landscape of cryptocurrency, marking it as an asset not simply beholden to market memes but rather as one underscored by genuine economic underpinning.

Conclusion

Hyperliquid’s HYPE token stands out as a strategically different investment in the cryptocurrency market, thanks to its substantial revenue generation and active buyback programme. Citrini Research believes that these factors position HYPE as not just a speculative asset but as a token with real financial backing and growth potential.

For investors looking to navigate the volatile crypto landscape, HYPE may offer something uniquely solid amid the meme-driven majority. As the platform continues to innovate and expand, its financial health will likely remain at the forefront of investment consideration in the crypto arena.
