Forgotten Playland Integrates Blockchain: A New Era of Decentralised Gaming

On 19 June, Forgotten Playland marked a significant milestone by integrating blockchain technology into its gaming ecosystem. This update runs on the Beam Network, an Avalanche-powered Layer 1 blockchain, ushering in a new era of decentralised gaming that grants players complete ownership and unrestricted trading of in-game assets.

Ownership of Digital Assets

Players can now engage with two types of non-fungible tokens (NFTs): Cosmetic NFTs and Toybox NFTs. The former encompasses skins, traits, and emotes which players can earn through gameplay, the battle pass, or by opening Toyboxes. The newly launched Toyboxes feature limited-edition bundles released periodically, each containing a variety of cosmetic items for players seeking to showcase their individual style.

Zico Bakker, co-founder of Duckland Games, remarked that these NFTs not only enhance personalisation and facilitate marketplace trading but also create avenues for players to access exclusive content and engage with the game on a deeper level.

A Decentralised Economy

In addition to NFTs, Forgotten Playland has introduced its native token, Forgotten Playland token (FP), to drive a decentralised economy within the game. Players can earn FP tokens through participation in the ongoing play-to-airdrop initiative, where they accumulate FLUFFY points based on gameplay activities, completion of quests, and ownership of cosmetics.

As the utility of NFTs and FP tokens increases, players will find themselves not just building cosmetic collections but also enjoying financial and social incentives that encourage deeper engagement with the game.

Enhanced Features and Global Appeal

This update also introduces the Spring Festival battle pass, seasonal challenges, and comprehensive German language support, broadening the game’s appeal to a more global audience. Social engagement and competitive play are further bolstered by the upcoming release of two new party games in the next fortnight, alongside a Plushkyn Battle mode currently under development.

Originally launched in March as a free-to-play party game by Duckland Games and Vermillion Studios, in collaboration with the Beam Foundation, Forgotten Playland features chaotic multiplayer interactions centred around whimsical plush toys known as PlushKyns. Players can access the game on PC via the Epic Games Store.

As Forgotten Playland continues to expand its features and content, it demonstrates a commitment to fostering long-term player engagement and delivers an innovative gaming experience in the evolving landscape of blockchain technology.
